Starting therapy for the first time or with a new therapist can be stressful with lots of unknown factors…

So here is some information about what to expect:

The Process

  • You can reach out to me via email, and I’ll respond to set up a FREE 20-minute consultation via phone or video chat. In this call I will give you more information about my services, and gather more information about what you’re seeking from therapy so we can determine if we’re a good fit.

  • During this session we will go over the intake forms you filled out, and I will ask clarifying questions so that I can understand better what has been happening so I can begin building the treatment plan.

  • I generally continue assessing what’s going on and what support is most needed for 1-2 months depending on the complexity. From this we will build treatment goals and I’ll create the treatment plan.

  • When we both determine that treatment goals have been met and maintained, we decide how to taper off services. Termination sessions are very important to me because the attachment relationship is core to effective therapy, and it’s important to have a session where we review and wrap-up.

The Space

My office has just moved to Old Tacoma, and I’m excited to have more space for movement and full-body regulation.

In my office I have lots of sensory soothing tools (aka fidgets), play therapy toys, art supplies, a sandtray table, and sandtray miniatures. I want it to be a welcoming environment that has space for playfulness, creativity, and processing difficult emotions and sensations.

My office is in the basement of a converted Victorian home, so you enter through a secure pedestrian gate, and then there are two different entrances to reach the lobby: either a staircase or a handicapped accessible ramp around the back.

The location is in a lovely area of Old Tacoma across from Wright Park and the Seymore Botanical Conservatory so you can enjoy a walk in the park or conservatory before or after sessions. There is a playground across the street in Wright Park, and lots of great restaurants in the area.

There are a few free parking spots in front of the house, free street parking, and free parking by the conservatory after they close at 3pm. Parking areas highlighted in green in the overview picture of the area.
